Happpy! Happy! Joy! Joy!

I stopped in to our local Tower Records and Books tonight. They are going out of business and so everything in the store is on sale.

Here is what I bought:

The Water is Wide by Pat Conroy
The March by E.L. Doctorow
I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith
March by Geraldine Brooks
A Spot of Bother by Mark Haddon
The Red Tent by Anita Diamant

I feel like Daffy Duck in the cartoon where he has found a cave of treasure and he yells with much elation, "It's mine, all mine!"

Have you read I Capture the Castle before? It's such a good one. I've been eying A Spot of Bother, but I'm too cheap to buy it at the prices I've seen. Sounds like you got some great deals!

B&P, I have seen the movie but not read the book. It has been something I've wanted for a long time but never got around to buying.

V - I know so many people who have read The Red Tent and loved it that I had to get it.

A bookstore going out of business sale?! I am so very jealous!

I love books, but I never read them anymore. This is a problem.

Looks like you got some good ones. I enjoyed "I Capture the Castle." I thought it was a sweet coming of age story.

We drove by Tower last night and I almost stopped in but decided to come home and actually read instead! I'm almost done with "In the Company of Cheerful Ladies" and am thinking of re-reading either Frankenstein or Dracula (in honor of the season of course).

We had an outlet book store around here go under and I was a total vulture every week, circling the reduced, reduced, reduced sections.
But the best find I've ever found is the GoodBooks Cafe - the repository for all books donated to GoodWill ... we're talking .49 classics and $3.00 new releases.
Heaven.
Mecca.
Good stuff.

Thanks for popping over at my blog. You've also been appointed my new doctor. The pay sucks but I won't trash your services ;-)

iai - Just call me Dr. Mary. . . I laughed when I saw your reply to my comment over at your place. I've joked around about the doctors in this town dreading the patient who comes in and say, "Well, my friend Mary says. . ."
