Sleeping with Bread:Grief and Joy

It has been a month since I posted here at Life, the Universe and Everything. Most of you who read this will know from Twitter or Facebook, but on July 27th, my mother passed away unexpectedly. By 7:30 that evening, we were on our way to Oklahoma for her funeral.

I'm a little worded out right now about it all so for my Sleeping with Bread post, I thought I'd share some pictures from the trip. The pictures encompass some of the grief and some of the joy in that trip.

I hope to be more regular with posting as we head into the school year. I realize how much Twitter and Facebook--and life, the universe and everything--has been interfering with this blog. In the meantime, if you want to check out more Sleeping with Bread posts, here is a link to this week's bread.

I too am just learning of your mother's passing.

I'm so very sorry. She must have been a wonderful woman to have raised someone as terrific as you. You and your family will be in my thoughts.

Again I am sorry to hear of your mother's passing, but the photos are wonderful and touching, especially the one of Jesus and the groovy water fountain. ;)

I love the mourning ring (both the concept and the one you chose). It's such a great idea, and a wonderful positive tribute.

Take care of yourself. That's code for: go have gelato.

Blessings and prayers for you and your family. The photos were brilliant. I think they captured the sadness and the joys of the journey--no doubt there were both. G-d does a good job of taking care of us when we let Him, eh?

*HUGE hugs*

It's good you're back--you've been missed....

Welcome back. ((((hugs))))
The foal is so cute. We consider our horses to be in the backyard, but not quite that literally. :D

Mary Lue -
You have been greatly missed. Please know that I'm here (even though far away) for you. I loved how rooted and connected your photos of the trip home expressed.

One of the most sincere opportunities for mourning I experienced when attending a benefit show for a woman who had unexpectedly passed away before the event. The benefit became more of a wake as a native American musician invited the family members to stand together in a huddle as the attendees danced around them hugging them all along the way. It was a beautiful moment. I pray you feel surrounded in love and prayers even today.

Mary, I am so sorry for your loss. I can certainly appreciate that you are "worded out."

The ring is exquisite, and the foal is pure magic.

Be well.

Oh MaryLue, I am so sorry to hear about your mom. I missed the notice.

Words come and go but, as with ebb and flow, both moments are needed and appropriate.

Hugs.
